Florida Keys

The Florida Keys are made up of over 1700 individual islands, stretching from the southeastern most tip of the mainland, about 15 miles south of Miami, in a south and westward arc to Key West, which lies just 90 miles from the coast of Cuba. The Keys lie in the subtropics and are therefore the climate and environment are much closer to those of the Caribbean than the rest of Florida. The islands divide the Gulf of Mexico from the Atlantic Ocean. Key Largo is the northernmost island and one of the largest in the archipelago. Connected to the mainland by two roads, it is also one of the most popular tourist destinations and the possibilty to play Online Games. Key Largo boasts that it is the Diving Capital of the World, with tens of thousands of divers and snorkelers attracted annually to the large coral reef lying just offshore.

Situated between two national parks, it is also a big destination for eco-tourists. The Overseas Highway is an 127.5 mile long road running through the Keys which links the islands and includes the famous and spectacular Seven Mile Bridge. At the end of the Highway lies Key West, a popular destination for cruise ships. Attractions include the historic Old Town, filled with classic wooden bungalows and guest mansions, and the Key West Botanical Forest and Garden. In Key West you can also find the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, where the great author lived and worked for ten years. The house contains many of Hemingway's original furnishings, artifacts and belongings and the gardens are also home to more than sixty cats, all descendants of a six toed cat given to the author by a ship's captain.
