Miami

Miami is the largest metro area in Florida, with a population of over 5 million residents. It was a sleepy town until the 1920s when it became a fashionable place to visit by the trend-setting crowd and the city soon began to blossom into the United States' favorite vacation destination. If you love the sun then head to South Beach, where you can watch the surfers and enjoy the beach-side boutiques and restaurants. Take time to appreciate the colorful Art Deco buildings of the area. The Art Deco District is made up of approximately 800 carefully preserved and eye-catching buildings from the 1930s and 1940s. Little Havana is home to thousands of Cubans who fled their homeland after Fidel Casto's 1959 revolution.

The area is reminiscent of the land the Cuban community left behind, with its characteristic Mediterranean style buildings and infused with the sound of Latin music. Go shopping in the hip Lincoln Road Mall and its stylish stores or visit Village of Merrick Park - South Florida's newest mall, boasting over 100 designer stores and boutiques. If you feel like some culture then make sure to visit some of the areas many museums and galleries. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a European-style palace crammed with thousands of beautiful artifacts and furnishings from the 16th to 19th centuries and for younger visitors, the Miami Children's Museum with its interactive displays and exhibits, makes a great place to visit. Miami's restaurant choices are almost endless, everything from classic diners to upscale destinations, like the famous celebrity-feted steakhouse 'The Forge.' Miami is justifiably famous for its fantastic nightlife so make sure you visit some clubs, like glamorous South Beach venues such as 'Cameo' and 'Florida Rooms.'
